Awesome websites that allow you to track traffic on a web site

Don't miss any updates, 'Subscribe For Free' through RSS, E-mail or Twitter.

Many people like to judge a website by the amount of traffic that it is receiving.  Maybe you have found a website you like, but want to find out how many other people visit every day, week, or month. There are a few website tracking websites that will allow you to get the information you want.

track-your-web-traffic

You should realize that these services are not aimed at tracking the number of visitors to your website because they only estimate the amount of traffic by using factors that are publicly available.

Alexa

Alexa is owned by Amazon and it is another popular site for tracking traffic on a website. The main drawback with this service is that getting the results can involve a lot of clicking. It does provide a lot of useful statistics though.

GoogleAdplanner

Google Adplanner is a good place to start if you want to see any websites statistics. This tool is actually aimed at those people thinking about advertising on a certain website; the statistics allow them to see if such advertisements would be worth their while. The data provided seems to be very reliable. It can also give you an idea about the type of people reading and geographical information. When you look at the information provided by this website it just gives you an idea about how much information Google has on all of us.

URL Trends

URL Trends offers good site traffic tracking, but it also has well placed ads that you need to avoid clicking if that is not your thing. This site tells you a bit about where users are coming from and there are links with report navigation that provide more detail. Those who pay a subscription can even download the report as a PDF.

Statcounter

Statcounter is a free yet reliable invisible web tracker, highly configurable hit counter and real-time detailed web stats. Insert a simple piece of our code on your web page or blog and you will be able to analyse and monitor all the visitors to your website in real-time!

Compete

Compete is another good way you can see the amount of traffic on any website. To get the best results you will have to have a pro-account. The good thing is that the graph produced can be saved as an image and kept. Compete is worth a visit if you want a graph of the results.

Bizinformation

BizInformation will not only give you a graph of unique visitors but it also gives you an idea about the worth of the website. As well as this it gives you information about the number of submissions it has made to such places as Stumbleupon or Digg.

Quantcast

Quantcast allows you to do a few different things. It comes with a graph that you can change to show selected date ranges or to display by day, week, or month. It is also able to display the demographics of US visitors; although it is not as good as the GoogleAdplanner.
